Description
Actinidia 'Jenny' is a self-fertile kiwi variety that combines male and female flowers on one plant, so it does not require an additional pollinator variety. It is a vigorously growing, hardy vine with pubescent shoots, leaves, and fruits.
Delicate creamy flowers appear in May–June, after which characteristic barrel-shaped fruits with typical brown pubescent skin are formed. The fruits reach 3–5 cm. The flesh is green, aromatic, with black seeds, juicy, and rich in vitamins. The taste is sweet and sour, typical of kiwi. The fruits are suitable for both fresh consumption and processing.
The harvest ripens from mid-October to November. In a cool place, the fruits can be stored until April. An adult plant reaches a height of 2–5 m, with an annual growth of about 0.5–1 m.
Actinidia 'Jenny' is recommended for growing in a sunny location or partial shade. It prefers fertile, humus-rich garden soil. Winter protection is recommended for young plants.
