Description

Berberis thunbergii "Maria" is a striking ornamental variety of Thunberg's barberry with a narrow columnar crown and bright golden-yellow foliage. Thanks to its rich color, compact form, and high resistance to unfavorable conditions, this variety is widely used for creating color accents, hedges, and ornamental compositions. Throughout the season, the bush maintains its bright color and attractive appearance.

Decorative Features
The main feature of the variety is its rich golden-yellow foliage, which retains its bright color from spring to autumn. Young growths often have a reddish-orange edge, giving the plant additional expressiveness.

In spring, the bush is covered with small, fragrant yellow flowers with a reddish tint on the outside of the petals. They appear in the leaf axils and contrast beautifully with the bright foliage.

In autumn, the color becomes even more intense, acquiring golden-orange, amber, and reddish hues. After flowering, bright red decorative fruits form, which remain on the branches until winter and attract birds.

The crown is dense, upright, columnar, and maintains its shape well without frequent pruning. Thanks to this, the bush looks neat even with minimal care.
