Description

Camassia quamash "Blue Melody" - is a perennial plant with a short growing season. It can be used in group plantings with other perennials that can cover its absence period. When cut, the delicate flowers on the peduncles will perfectly decorate the interior with their beautiful blue color.

The flowers are small, with thin elongated petals. The color of the flower is blue with a lilac hue. The center is adorned with yellow pollen and stigma. The leaves are elongated, basal, dark green with a white edge, smooth. No smell.

  • Flower diameter: 4-5 cm.
  • Plant height: 35-40 cm.
  • Flower color: blue.
  • Flowering period: June.

Can grow in any moisture-retaining soils. A drainage layer is necessary for water drainage. A layer of humus is important as a nutritious component for the plant. Before planting, it is better to dig up the soil and add humus.

Planting time. The bulbs should be planted in the soil in September-October, when the plant is dormant.

Planting location. The plant prefers bright areas of the garden, but not direct sunlight. Light partial shade is quite suitable for planting.

Planting depth. In prepared soil, make holes and plant to a depth of approximately 15 cm. The depth is calculated by the size (diameter) of the bulb. If the bulb is planted in light soil, the depth will be three bulb diameters, in heavy soil - two. The distance between flowers in a group planting should be 15 cm.

Care. The Camassia flower needs fertilization during stem growth and budding. Watering should be active during stem growth, otherwise - only as the soil dries.
