Description
Chionodoxa luciliae "Violet Beauty" is a perennial small-bulbous plant that belongs to the lily family. It is a very successful plant due to its early flowering period.
This is a low-growing plant with beautiful star-shaped flowers. It grows up to 12-20 cm tall. The flowers are solitary or in one-sided racemose inflorescences of 3-6 pieces. They appear in early spring, immediately after the snow melts. They are small (up to 2.5 cm in diameter), have six petals. Their color is pink-violet with pink-white centers at the top. The leaves are broadly lanceolate, medium-sized (7-12 cm long), dark green. It emerges in early spring from an underground bulb simultaneously with the flower stalk. Collected in basal rosettes of 2-3 pieces and forms neat, low clumps. Stems are dark with sparse leaves. The aerial part of the plant dies back in June.
