Description
Clematis "Blue Angel" is a decorative flowering climbing vine, a variety that was created by Stefan Franczak (Polish breeder) in 1987 and was named "Błękitny Anioł" (from Polish "Blue Angel"). However, when the variety came into being remained a mystery. In 1992, the clematis was awarded a gold medal at the "Plantarium" exhibition, and a year later by the Royal Horticultural Society - the Award of Garden Merit. The flowers of this beautiful clematis have light lilac and blue hues. Once fully open, the flower reaches 10 to 15 cm. There are usually four sepals, with wavy edges and a groove in the middle. In the center are light yellow stamens. Purple tones can also be seen in some photographs.
Planting and Care: Ideally thrives in rich, well-drained soils, in full sun or partial shade. Like most clematis, it prefers to keep its "head in the sun and feet in the shade." Keep the roots cool and shaded by other plants, or add a layer of pebbles or other mulch at the base. The third group of clematis requires hard pruning in late winter or early spring. Simply cut the stems back to a couple of two-three buds, 30 cm above the ground.

Nothing looked crushed, broken or excessively dry. The plant looked prepared for shipping rather than freshly disturbed. The product shown on my order was Clematis "Blue Angel".
