Description
Clematis "Niobe" - is one of the most popular varieties in the world, bred in Poland. The height of an adult plant is about 200 cm. Large flowers (10-15 cm in diameter) are dark red, and at the beginning of flowering, the flowers are almost black. Lemon-yellow stamens stand out against the black flowers. Flowering period - June, August-September. This clematis variety is suitable for planting near walls, trellises, fences, gazebos, the variety is very climbing. It grows on any soil, mainly in the sun, but also feels good in the shade. It is quite resistant to frost.
Planting. Clematis are used for vertical landscaping of house walls, fences, gazebos, arches. Low-growing varieties are used in rockeries. Clematis likes to keep its head in the sun and its feet in the shade. For clematis, use a soil mixture of sod land, compost or manure; peat; sand, 3:1:1. Dig a hole, make a mound in the center, place the plant, spread out the roots, water well. The planting depth is very important for clematis: deepen the root collar by 7-10 cm. With deep planting, clematis will easily endure frosty winters, thanks to a strong root system that will form over the summer. Mulch the soil around the plant.
Care. Supports are of great importance for the full development, abundant and prolonged flowering of plants. Wooden trellises, a tightly stretched net of strong fishing line, as well as weigela, corydalis, forsythia bushes are suitable for this purpose. Clematis care consists of protecting it from overheating and drying out in summer and freezing in winter. During the growing season, alternate applications of mineral and organic fertilizers. Before winter covering, the bushes are cleared of old leaves and pruned.
