Description
Clematis "Ville de Lyon" - This is a large-flowered variety. A perennial vine reaching a height of 3-4 m. The flowers are carmine-red, acquiring a violet hue with age. The tips and edges of the sepals are curved. The flowers are large, 10-15 cm in diameter. The anthers are bright yellow, located on creamy-white stamen filaments. "Ville de Lyon" blooms on the shoots of the current year, from July to September. Flowering is abundant and prolonged. The variety is fast-growing. Pruning group – 3 (late-flowering clematis). Late-flowering clematis are pruned in spring or autumn. Pruning is strong. The variety is unpretentious.
Clematis are among the most beautiful flowering plants. They are widely used in vertical gardening. All thanks to their spectacular flowers, delicate foliage, rapid growth, and abundant flowering. Clematis are perfect for decorating arbors, pergolas, balconies, or creating hedges. For the first 2-3 years, clematis develop vegetative mass and a root system; abundant flowering only begins in the third or fourth year. Therefore, we recommend removing all formed buds in the first year so that the plant does not expend energy on flowering. The ideal planting material is clematis with a closed root system. Such plants tolerate transplanting well and adapt faster. Clematis do not like wet soils where water stagnates. A common cause of seedling death is excess moisture. The optimal soil pH should be 5.5 – 6.5. Clematis can be planted both in spring (April) and autumn (September-October).
