Beschermend materiaal zat precies op de nodige plaatsen. De wortels hadden na de reis nog voldoende vocht. Ik hoefde hierover niet opnieuw contact op te nemen.

Description
Crocus chrysanthus "Cream Beauty" is a spectacular variety that will brighten up gloomy garden corners and bring a good mood. Other names: Golden Saffron, golden-flowered crocus, crocus chrysanthus. An ephemeral plant belonging to the Peony family. It is a harbinger of spring, flowering one of the first, two weeks earlier than other species. Elegant flowers break through the snow towards the warm sun rays. Frosts are not scary for them, as they contain a lot of sugars in their cells for cold protection.
Appearance and Scent
The flowers are goblet-shaped, delicate creamy in color with a yellow tint, a dark yellow throat, and brownish-grey at the base of the flower on the outside. Consist of six petals. Stigmas are orange. The flowers emit a pleasant scent.
Leaves are shiny, narrow, dark green, with a silvery-white stripe in the middle of the leaf. They begin to grow from the bulb during flowering, and fully develop after flowering. Potato-like bulbs are smaller in size compared to other crocuses. They produce 3 or more flowers.
This variety grows up to 10 cm in height and up to 7 cm in width. It is ideal for growing in open ground and containers. Grows in full sun and partial shade, in moderately fertile and well-drained soils. Planting depth 5 cm. Flowering period February-March.
Planting. Soils for planting can be any, but they must be well-drained. Crocuses do not grow in acidic soils. Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot for planting. Crocuses look good in groups in borders, rockeries, and lawns. You can create intricate patterns with them. Crocus bulbs are planted from September to the end of December. Prepare the soil for planting in advance. Loosen it to a depth of 30 cm, then add compost. Since bulbous plants are too sensitive to moisture, they can be planted in sand. To do this, dig a hole with a flat bottom and a size of, for example, 5 cm wide and 30 cm long. Then pour a thin layer of sand around the perimeter, no more than 2 cm high. Place the bulbs on top of the sand, with pointed ends facing up. Then carefully fill the hole with soil, without compacting it. Planting depth should be equal to two bulb heights. Planting distance between bulbs - from 3 to 10 cm.
Care. Crocuses are undemanding in care. They do not need watering. They get enough moisture from the soil after the snow melts. Fresh manure is contraindicated for crocuses. Every 4-5 years, crocus 'nests' need to be divided. If necessary, flowering crocuses can be transplanted (with a clod of earth).
