Description

Crocus chrysanthus "Dorothy" is a perennial low-growing herbaceous corm plant. The corms are flattened-spherical, 1.8 cm in diameter. They are covered with a membranous tunic that breaks into rings. The leaves are very narrow, developing during flowering. The perianth is cup-shaped, yellow, with a bronze-yellow center, and outer petals with translucent bronze stripes. The floral tube is up to 5-10 cm long. Anthers are light yellow, pistil stigmas are yellow. Flowering occurs in late winter – early spring (February-March). The flowering period lasts 20 days. It belongs to ephemeroids – it goes into summer dormancy. Divide the clumps every 3-4 years in autumn. This variety is ideal for growing in open ground and in containers. Perfectly suited for rock gardens.
