Description

Crocus chrysanthus "Prins Claus" - these miniature crocuses, early bloomers, captivate with their beauty and variety of colors. The botanical variety Prins Claus is ready to delight with its flowering with the first rays of spring sun.

Appearance and fragrance
In low-growing bulbous crocuses, leaves grow from the root. The lower part of the shoots is covered with transparent scales. Unisexual flowers have a corolla-like 6-part perianth of bright yellow color. The petals are snow-white, decorated with lilac strokes on the outside at the bottom.

Main characteristics:

  • Plant height: 8—10 cm.
  • Leaf color: green.
  • Flower color: white with lilac marks.
  • Life cycle: perennial.

Planting (Crocus Prins Claus)
The botanical crocus Prins Claus does not have special growing conditions. It is enough to know the basic recommendations for planting and care to grow spring flowers in your garden. In addition, crocuses can be grown for forcing.

Planting time. The optimal planting period for Crocus Prins Claus is from September to early October.

Planting location. This magnificent variety grows well in sunny or semi-shady areas. The plants are undemanding to soil composition, with the exception of acidic soils.

Planting depth. Bulbs are planted to a depth of 5—10 cm, maintaining a distance of 7 to 10 cm between planting material.

Care. Botanical crocuses are unpretentious in care. Plants grow in one place for about 5 years without transplanting, while increasing the abundance of flowering. Transplanting is carried out in August-September.

The flowers have good resistance to frost and pests. They do not need watering, as they feed on moisture reserves after winter.
