Description

Crocus laevigatus "Fontenayi" - is an elegant and rare crocus that reveals its beauty at the most unusual time — from late autumn to mid-winter. Crocus ‘Fontenayi’ seems to enliven the garden during its dormant period, adding delicate hues and subtle graphics to the cold landscape.

Its flowers are refined, cup-shaped, of a soft lilac shade with a warm yellow center. On the outside, the petals are adorned with contrasting purple stripes and strokes, making the buds look expressive even before opening. When fully bloomed, the plant creates a light, almost watercolor effect.

Its compact size makes this variety ideal for small gardens, rockeries, and container plantings. It is especially valued for its ability to bloom in cool weather when most ornamental plants have already finished their season.

Planting:

Corms are planted in autumn (September–October) at a depth of 7–10 cm, maintaining a distance of 5–7 cm. For planting, choose sunny areas with light, well-drained soil — waterlogging is undesirable for this crocus. Watering should be moderate, without overwatering.
