Description

Crocus tommasinianus "Hummingbird" is an elegant botanical primrose, one of the first to bring the garden to life after winter. This variety is especially valued for its early flowering, unpretentiousness, and ability to quickly grow into dense, picturesque carpets. Flowering begins in early spring, in March-April, often simultaneously with snowdrops. Compact plants, only 8-12 cm tall, adorn the garden with goblet-shaped flowers 3-5 cm in diameter of a delicate lilac or lavender shade with a slight silvery shimmer inside the petals, creating a soft and very natural spring accent.

Crocus 'Hummingbird' prefers loose, fertile, and well-drained soils with a neutral reaction. The plant develops perfectly both in sunny areas and in light partial shade under tree crowns. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and successfully overwinters in open ground. Thanks to its decorative qualities and ability to quickly naturalize, this crocus is ideal for alpine slides, rockeries, planting under shrubs, and creating impressive flowering clumps on the lawn.
