Description
The plant forms compact flower stalks about 15 cm high, with a flower cup up to 5 cm. Flowering occurs in April and lasts approximately 10–15 days. Crocuses tolerate spring frosts and temperature changes well, remaining stable and reliable early spring plants.
For planting, it is better to choose well-warmed sunny areas with loose, drained soil of neutral reaction. The bulbs do not tolerate stagnant moisture, so it is important to avoid waterlogging. They are planted in early autumn, in still warm soil, to a depth of 5–15 cm. After planting, it is recommended to mulch the surface with fallen leaves, which will help the plants successfully overwinter.
Crocus Vanguard is versatile in use: it can be planted both in open ground for creating spring compositions, and in containers for home cultivation and forcing.
