Description

Dahlia "Café au Lait" is a true legend of world floriculture and an undisputed favorite among decorative dahlias. The variety belongs to the Dinnerplate group and is prized for its incredibly exquisite palette, which changes depending on the lighting. The plant becomes the main star of the garden, combining giant inflorescence size with the surprising tenderness of pastel shades, radiating nobility and serenity.

Appearance and Features

The main feature of 'Cafe au Lait' is its giant inflorescences, which can reach 20–25 cm in diameter. The flowers have a complex multi-layered structure with numerous gently curving petals, creating incredible volume. The color of the variety is true magic: delicate creamy and beige shades of the outer petals gradually transition into a warm peach-pink center. Thanks to this watercolor palette, each flower looks unique against a backdrop of lush green foliage.

Growing Conditions and Care

To allow this dahlia to display its maximum grandeur, choose a sunny spot protected from strong winds. The plant prefers fertile, well-drained soil and requires regular watering and feeding throughout the season. Given the large weight of the inflorescences and the significant height of the bush, a sturdy support should definitely be provided. After the first autumn frosts, the tubers must be dug up and stored in a cool, dry place until spring.
