Planting
Planting. Dahlia tubers are planted in May, after the threat of frost has passed. Choose a sunny, wind-protected spot for planting. The soil should be fertile and well-draining. Before planting, sprout the dahlias for a month. Dig planting holes 40–60 cm apart. Add mineral fertilizers to each hole. After the first shoots appear, cover the dahlias initially to protect them from possible frosts. Install a support near each plant. If plants are planted in pots, the distance between plants should be 30-60 cm.
Care. Dahlias are heat-loving and sun-loving plants. They prefer moist soils without water stagnation. Before flowering, water and fertilize the plant regularly, and loosen the soil. In autumn, prune the shoots and dig up the tubers. Store them in a dark, cool place.
