Description
Fritillaria uva-vulpis is an elegant bulbous plant valued for its unusual drooping flowers and refined natural beauty. Bell-shaped flowers of a rich dark purple, chocolate-brown, or burgundy hue with a bright yellow rim along the edges of the petals bloom on slender flower stalks. Such a contrasting combination of colors makes the plant especially expressive and easily recognizable.
The plant reaches a height of 15–30 cm, maintaining a compact form and neat appearance. Flowering begins in April–May and lasts for several weeks. Narrow bluish-green leaves emphasize the decorativeness of the flowers and create a harmonious background for their unusual coloration.
Fritillaria uva-vulpis prefers sunny areas or light partial shade, thrives in loose, fertile, and well-drained soils. It is characterized by good winter hardiness, resistance to adverse weather conditions, and low maintenance. Thanks to its compact size, it is perfectly suited for alpine gardens, rockeries, borders, container cultivation, and creating natural spring compositions.
The striking dark flowers with golden tips make this fritillary a true gem among spring-flowering bulbous plants.

The first thing I noticed was the clean condition of the shoots. The plant looked prepared for shipping rather than freshly disturbed. The variety I wanted to inspect first was Fritillaria uva-vulpis.
The root area settled without needing extra handling. The first watering was absorbed normally after the journey. That was enough to leave a good first impression.
