Description
‘Vanessa’ is a fruiting grape with a recognizable garden form and decorative appeal that unfolds differently throughout the season. Deciduous green foliage forms a fresh crown during the season and adds new shades to the composition in autumn. Flowering continues from May to June; the main flower color is "Greenish-white, inconspicuous." The plant forms edible fruits; the fruit color is "Blue / dark blue"; ripening usually lasts from August to October.
For harmonious development, it is important to select conditions close to the plant’s natural requirements. Optimal light – full sun, a warm, sheltered location. Soil – well-drained, fertile; neutral to slightly alkaline is acceptable. Watering – moderate; regularly in the first years and during drought, without overwatering. Frost resistance – medium to high, approximately −15…−25 °C depending on the variety.
In landscaping, the variety easily works both as an independent accent and as part of a more complex composition. Best use scenarios – trellis, pergola, fruit wall, container for compact forms. The main advantages of ‘Vanessa’ are an edible harvest, an extended fruiting period, self-fertility, suitability for container cultivation, and effective vertical landscaping. To maintain its form, it is sufficient to adhere to this pruning scheme: annual winter pruning + summer normalization of shoots and clusters. Pollination feature – most cultivated varieties are self-fertile.

Die Pflanze war im Karton sicher fixiert. Der Wurzelbereich hatte nach dem Transport noch genug Feuchtigkeit. Nach dem Öffnen habe ich zuerst Grape ‘Vanessa’ kontrolliert.
Zuerst fiel mir der saubere Zustand der Triebe auf. Vorhandene Blätter waren unterwegs kaum aufgerieben worden. Für mich war das wichtiger als ein Werbeversprechen.
Die Pflanze gewöhnte sich schrittweise an normales Licht. Die erste Reaktion nach dem Pflanzen war ruhig und gleichmäßig. Der Ablauf entsprach meinen Erwartungen aus der Beschreibung.
