Hebe "Green Globe" - These potted plants need to be moved to a cool room for the winter. Hebes growing outdoors need to be protected from frost. This can be done as follows: stretch a double row of netting on supports around the hebe. Then fill the space between the netting and the plants with straw or agro-fabric. This will create a protective barrier around the plant, which must be securely fastened to supports driven into the ground. You can also stick four bamboo sticks into the ground near the plants and stretch black film or jute over them.

Flowers and Flowering

White. They are collected in spear-shaped inflorescences (flowers are located along the entire inflorescence on short pedicels). Hebe blooms from early summer to early autumn, during which time it should be outdoors.

Propagation

In spring, hebe is propagated by apical cuttings. Cut 8-10cm long tips from shoots. Remove the lower leaves from the cuttings, dip the ends in rooting hormone, and stick them into moist soil. Keep the cuttings at a temperature of 18-20°C until rooting. Then plant them into individual pots about 8cm in diameter, filled with well-draining compost soil. You can also root them directly in open ground. From this point on, the plants are cared for as adults.

Location Selection

Preferably sunny locations, and it is completely irrelevant whether it grows outdoors or indoors. The plant tolerates partial shade well. Hybrid hebe grows best at normal room temperature. For winter, plants growing outdoors need to be reliably covered with suitable covering material or moved indoors to a room with a temperature of 4-8°C.

Care

This is a problem-free decorative evergreen shrub that can be grown in flower pots. In spring, hybrid hebe is transplanted into well-draining and nutritious compost soil.

Watering and Fertilizing

In summer and autumn, hybrid hebe needs sufficiently abundant watering. In winter months, watering should be reduced to a minimum and the plant watered quite moderately. In spring and summer, i.e., during the most intensive growth of the plant, hybrid hebe should be fertilized approximately once a week with universal complex fertilizers for flowering plants.
