Description
‘Duet’ is a honeyberry with a recognizable garden form and ornamental value that unfolds differently throughout the season. Deciduous green foliage emphasizes the natural seasonal rhythm and creates a calm backdrop for flowering or fruiting. Flowering occurs in spring and early summer; the main flower color is ‘White / light, typical for the culture’. The plant produces edible fruits; the fruit color is ‘Blue’; ripening usually lasts from May to June.
For harmonious development, it is important to select conditions close to the plant's natural requirements. Optimal light – sun or light partial shade. Soil – fertile, well-drained. Watering – moderate. Frost resistance – very high, up to −35…−40 °C.
In the landscape, the variety works easily as a standalone accent and as part of a more complex composition. Best use scenarios – fruit garden, berry patch, edible hedge; compact varieties – containers. The main advantages of ‘Duet’ are edible harvest, very high winter hardiness, suitability for container cultivation, possibility of use in hedges, and easy shaping. To maintain its form, it is sufficient to adhere to this pruning scheme: minimal in the first years; then thinning out old branches. A feature of pollination – 2–3 compatible varieties are needed for good cross-pollination.
