Description

Hyacinthus "Jan Bos" is a perennial variety that will captivate with its raspberry-colored flowers in the garden or indoors on a windowsill. The plant forms a rather large inflorescence with small (up to 3 cm in diameter) star-shaped flowers. Long, glossy, bright green leaves form a beautiful rosette. It begins to bloom quite early, in early March, and delights with its beauty for about 20 days.

Hyacinth 'Jan Bos' Bulbs: Planting and Care
Jan Bos hyacinth bulbs are recommended to be planted in areas with nutritious and well-drained soil in the first half of autumn, from September to October. If the soil is heavy, it is necessary to 'dilute' it with sand or peat to improve soil aeration. The planting depth will depend on the size of the bulbs: for large ones, a hole 15-18 cm deep is suitable, and for small ones – 5-10 cm.

After planting, water and mulch in case of a frosty and snowless winter. In spring, the mulch should be removed from the area so that the soil warms up faster and the bulbs 'wake up'. If there is insufficient moisture, water and fertilize with multi-component fertilizers.

After flowering, 'Jan Bos' hyacinths should be dug up, but it is worth waiting until the flower stalk wilts and dries. This usually happens around the end of June or early July. Dig up the bulbs, remove affected and damaged specimens, clean off the top scales and remnants of the dry flower stalk and roots. Then rinse and dry them in a shaded, well-ventilated area. After that, the planting material can be stored.
