Description

Hyacinthus "Jan Bos" is a perennial variety that will captivate with its crimson flowers in the garden or in a pot on the windowsill. The plant forms a rather large inflorescence with small (up to 3 cm in diameter) star-shaped flowers. Long, glossy, bright green leaves form a beautiful rosette. It starts blooming quite early, in early March, and delights with its beauty for about 20 days.

Jan Bos Hyacinth Bulbs: Planting and Care
Jan Bos hyacinth bulbs are recommended to be planted in areas with nutritious and well-drained soil in the first half of autumn, from September to October. If the soil is heavy, it needs to be "diluted" with sand or peat to improve soil aeration. The planting depth will depend on the size of the bulbs: for large ones, a hole 15-18 cm deep is suitable, and for small ones - 5-10 cm.

After planting, water and mulch are applied in case of a frosty and snowless winter. In spring, the mulch should be removed from the area so that the soil warms up faster and the bulbs "wake up". If there is not enough moisture, water and fertilize with multi-component fertilizers.

Jan Bos hyacinths should be dug up after flowering, but you should wait until the flower stalk withers and dries out. This usually happens around late June or early July. Dig up the bulbs, remove diseased and damaged specimens, clean off the outer scales and remnants of the dry flower stalk and roots. After that, rinse and dry them in a shaded, well-ventilated room. After this, the planting material can be stored.
