Hyacinthus "Purple Sensation" - an oriental hyacinth with double flowers. A mid-early variety. It was bred relatively recently, in 1990. A real sensation in the garden! You must see its bloom for yourself.
Appearance and Aroma
The flower stalk reaches a height of about 25 cm. The flowers are double, bell-shaped, numerous (about 35 pieces), of an attractive lilac color. The size of an individual flower is about 3.5 cm in diameter and about the same or slightly more in length. The flowers have a very strong sweet aroma. The leaves are linear, smooth, blue-green, gathered in basal rosettes of 9 pieces. The inflorescence is a dense, cylindrical raceme, about 10-15 cm high. It blooms for a long time, up to three weeks.
Planting (Hyacinth Purple Sensation)
Hyacinths are planted in open ground or containers in a sunny, protected location with well-drained, non-acidic soil. Add fertilizer before planting. Bulbs are planted in September-October at a depth of 10-15 cm, with a distance of 15-20 cm. Drainage and a light substrate are essential in containers. Large bulbs are used for forcing, and medium ones for open ground.
Care
After flowering, the inflorescences are cut, and the leaves are left until they dry. Bulbs are dug up in early summer, dried, and stored until autumn (they can grow in one place for up to 3 years). Watering is moderate, without overwatering or drying out. Potted plants need regular feeding.
