Description

Iris hollandica "Miss Saigon" - this is a bulbous or Dutch iris belonging to the Xiphium group. A spectacular perennial plant. It was bred in the Netherlands. Marketed by Vws Flowerbulbs. A bright, inexpensive iris that will delight you with spectacular flowering in early summer! It is usually very easy to grow, making it great for beginner gardeners!



Appearance
  • The flower stalk is strong, 70-80 cm high.
  • It usually forms 1-2 flowers with fairly wide petals (perianth segments).
  • Flower size is 4-5 cm in diameter. Each consists of three vertical inner perianth parts and three outer ones.
  • One flower combines both the common lavender coloration, and golden, and bronze.
  • The inner perianth segments are small, inverted downwards, and uniformly colored.



Planting (Iris Hollandica Miss Saigon)

Planting. Dutch irises are bulbous perennials with exotic and elegant flowers. They grow in moist, fertile soils. Bulbs are planted to a depth of 8-10 cm, with a distance of 13 cm between them. After planting, the soil is mulched. Irises can also be grown in containers. Planting time is spring.

Care. Very hardy. The soil should be moist throughout the growing season. It is recommended to transplant every 3 years. After flowering, the leaves are cut back to 15 cm. Irises are ideal for cutting. They can be grown as annuals by digging up the bulbs annually.
