Description
Iris hollandica "Stronggold" - these irises of extraordinary beauty are used in various landscape design variations, which is why they have become designers' favorite plants. The bright, sunny Hollandica Stronggold variety will serve as a magnificent decorative adornment not only for the garden, but also for windows, balconies, conservatories, etc.
Perennial rhizomatous irises have rather large flowers consisting of 6 perianth segments, the outer three of which are directed downwards, and the inner ones "look" upwards. The floral pistil is divided into three lobes. The root system of the plants is well developed; it improves the soil. The roots are thread-like, fibrous. The leaves are erect, flat, sword-shaped. They have a slight waxy coating on the surface. They grow predominantly in a bunch.
Planting (Iris Hollandica Stronggold)
The Iris Hollandica Stronggold variety is an unpretentious plant to grow. Knowing the basic recommendations for cultivation, every amateur gardener will be able to create a beautiful landscape with these wonderful flowers.
Planting time. The optimal planting period for irises is September-November, before the first frost.
Planting location. Irises prefer areas with well-drained soil. They bloom well both in open sunny areas, tolerating hot and dry summers, and in partial shade.
Planting depth. Iris bulbs are deepened by 5-10 cm, after previously digging the soil 20 cm deep before planting. The distance between plants should be no more than 10 cm.
Care. Perennial irises are unpretentious in care. Before planting, fertilizers should be applied - humus, potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen. Weeding and loosening the soil are also necessary. Plants like moderately moist soil. They need to be watered regularly, but avoid water stagnation at the roots. Periodically, the flowers need to be transplanted to avoid rhizomes being pushed to the surface of the earth and a decrease in decorative appeal.
