«Aureum» is a decorative maple: a bright garden element where naturalness combines with neat form and expressive texture. The deciduous foliage has a characteristic «Golden yellow / yellow-green» hue and emphasizes the seasonal nature of the plant. As an adult, the plant usually reaches 2–4 m in height and about 2–3 m in width, so its future scale is easy to consider when planning planting.
The variety best reveals its decorative qualities with a properly chosen location and stable, but not excessive, care. Optimal lighting is sun or partial shade; protect from hot midday sun and dry winds. Humus-rich, moisture-retaining, well-drained; slightly acidic to neutral soil is best. Watering should be regular, without drying out or waterlogging. Frost resistance is high, approximately down to −20…−25 °C; young plants should preferably be protected.
In garden design, the plant is valued for its plasticity and ability to harmoniously support different planting styles. Best use scenarios include: solitary plant, Japanese garden, compositions, large container. The main advantages of «Aureum» are good winter hardiness, suitability for container cultivation, easy shaping, the architectural silhouette of the mature plant, and versatility in garden compositions. To maintain its shape, it is sufficient to adhere to the following pruning scheme: minimal; sanitary pruning during dormancy, avoid severe pruning.
