Description
«Curly Red» is an evergreen Leucothoe with a recognizable garden form and ornamental value that unfolds differently throughout the season. The foliage or needles have a characteristic "Green" color for the plant. Flowering continues from May to June; the main flower shade is "White / cream". As an adult, the plant usually reaches 0.4–1 m in height and about 0.6–1.2 m in width, so its future scale is easy to consider when planning planting.
For harmonious development, it is important to select conditions close to the plant's natural requirements. Optimal lighting — partial shade or shade. Soil — acidic, humous, well-drained; without lime. Watering — moderate–regular; do not allow prolonged drying out after planting. Frost resistance — high, around −20…−25 °C.
In the landscape, the variety easily works both as a standalone accent and as part of a more complex composition. Best use scenarios — solitaire, groups, borders, decorative compositions. The main advantages of «Curly Red» are year-round decorativeness, good winter hardiness, compact form, harmonious bushy form, and versatility in garden compositions. To maintain its shape, it is sufficient to adhere to the following pruning scheme: sanitary and formative pruning after flowering or in early spring — depending on the culture.
