Description

Lilium "Casa Blanca" - this is the most popular lily in global catalogs! It has huge flowers and a delicate color.

Appearance

The flowers bloom in mid-summer. They are star-shaped, consisting of 3 petals and 3 sepals, which are very similar to each other. The edges of the petals are wavy. Their color is snow-white or creamy white. The stamens are long with heavy bright golden anthers. The flowers "look" upwards or downwards. The size of the flowers is simply astonishing - it reaches an average of 15 to 30 cm in diameter. A strong fragrant aroma that permeates the air is another advantage of this lily. The number of buds on the stem depends on the age of the bulb and the "lifespan" of the lily in one place. The leaves are glossy, lanceolate, leathery, dark green in color. The height of the plant is up to 120 cm and above (depends on the bulb size: 14 to 18 cm in circumference). Flowering time - July-August. This lily is one of the most popular wedding flowers used today. It is highly valued by designers.

Planting. A mandatory condition for successful cultivation of oriental lilies is deep planting (15 - 20 cm). This way, the bulbs can be protected from freezing in winter. They prefer fertile, slightly acidic soil. They grow well in peaty soils with the addition of sand and leaf mold. When planting in holes, it is essential to sprinkle sand mixed with ash. This will prevent the bulb's bottom from rotting. The planting period is autumn or spring.

Care. They need regular watering, especially in the first half of summer and after flowering. They do not tolerate excess moisture. Proper watering is very important - only at the root and preferably in the morning, so that the leaves have time to dry before night. If watered in the evening, gray mold (botrytis) develops very quickly. Tall stems need to be tied to a support. It is necessary to protect from spring and autumn frosts: cover with non-woven material. During prolonged rains, cover with a film. For winter, the bulbs need to be dug up or covered with spruce branches, a layer of leaves or dry peat.
