Description
Miscanthus sinensis "Gracillimus" - a popular ornamental grass, distinguished by its graceful architecture and beautiful autumn inflorescences. The plant forms tall, dense, fountain-shaped clumps up to 1.8 meters high and 1.2 meters wide, with narrow dark green leaves. In autumn, the leaves acquire an attractive bronze hue, adding to its decorative appeal. Purple flowers appear in autumn and eventually transform into silvery fluffy inflorescences, remaining attractive throughout winter.
How to plant and care for Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus': it grows best in full sun, but can tolerate light partial shade. An open sunny location promotes more abundant flowering and brighter coloration of leaves and inflorescences. It prefers well-drained soil, but can grow in various soil types, including sandy and clay. It is important to ensure good drainage to avoid water stagnation. Regular watering is necessary to maintain moderate soil moisture, especially during periods of intense heat. However, Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus' tolerates short-term drought well after rooting in its permanent growing location. In spring, cut old stems to ground level to stimulate new growth.
