Description

Puschkinia scilloides var. libanotica "Alba" — is an elegant, early-spring flowering bulbous perennial, valued for its unpretentiousness, good winter hardiness, and delicate snow-white inflorescences. During flowering, Puschkinia looks especially decorative, adorning the garden with light clusters of bell-shaped flowers. The variety is perfect for flowerbeds, rockeries, container plantings, and compositions with other spring flowers, effectively combining with botanical tulips, muscari, and dwarf narcissi.

The plant grows up to 20–25 cm tall and forms upright flower stalks with loose, raceme-like inflorescences. The flowers are bell-shaped, pure white with a delicate creamy-yellow center. The leaves are linear, green, about 1 cm wide and up to 15 cm long, appearing simultaneously with the flower stalks. Flowering begins in April, creating an atmosphere of lightness and spring freshness in the garden.

The bulbs overwinter well in open ground. Plant them in autumn at a depth of about 5 cm in light garden soil in sunny areas or partial shade. The plant does not tolerate waterlogging and develops better when planted in groups. Puschkinia can grow in one place for 5–7 years, after which transplanting and dividing the daughter bulbs are recommended. In late spring, the plant gradually enters a dormant period.
