Sawara Cypress ‘Blue Moon’ is a compact evergreen coniferous shrub with a dense, rounded crown and beautiful steel-blue needles. It grows slowly, with an annual growth of approximately 5–10 cm. By 10 years, the plant usually reaches 60–90 cm in height, and as an adult, about 0.8–1.2 m in height and width.

The variety thrives best in sunny areas with moderately moist, well-drained soil. It prefers slightly acidic or neutral soil and does not like water stagnation. Its natural form is neat, so heavy pruning is usually not required.

Blue Moon is characterized by good winter hardiness and is suitable for outdoor cultivation. Thanks to its compact size and unusual blue needle color, this variety looks excellent in rock gardens, alpine slides, borders, small gardens, containers, and as a single decorative planting.
