Description
‘Rehbraun’ is an ornamental switchgrass with a distinctive appearance, beautiful texture, and harmonious silhouette. Its evergreen foliage or needles maintain rich green tones, keeping the planting decorative year-round. Flowering continues from August to October. As an adult plant, it typically reaches 0.8–1.5 m in height and about 0.6–1 m in width, making its future size easy to consider when planning planting.
To ensure the plant retains its neat shape and expressiveness, it is sufficient to provide it with a suitable location and consistent care. Optimal lighting is full sun. Well-drained soil is best. Watering is low to moderate. Frost resistance is high, up to −25 °C.
The variety is equally suitable for decorative and practical plantings, provided its scale and growth habit are taken into account beforehand. Best use scenarios include mixed borders, mass plantings, structural plantings, and containers. The main advantages of ‘Rehbraun’ are its year-round decorativeness, prolonged flowering, good winter hardiness, suitability for container cultivation, and compact form. To maintain its shape, it is sufficient to follow this pruning scheme: deciduous grasses are cut back in late winter; evergreen sedges are combed through and lightly cleaned.
