Description

Tulipa "Avignon" is a spectacular late-flowering variety, drawing attention with its rich orange color and delicate crimson streaks on the petals. Large goblet-shaped flowers, 8-10 cm high, rise on strong stems up to 65 cm tall, creating a bright accent in the spring garden. Flowering occurs in May and is characterized by long-lasting decorative appeal. This variety combines perfectly with parrot, viridiflora, and other late tulips in white, yellow, or lilac shades, allowing for the creation of luxurious floral compositions.

Tulips prefer sunny, wind-protected areas with light, well-drained, non-acidic soil. Before planting, add humus (up to 10 kg/m²); fresh manure should not be used. Bulbs are planted in September – early October: small ones to a depth of 7–10 cm, large ones up to 15 cm, leaving 10–20 cm between them. When planting, it is recommended to add a layer of sand for drainage.

Tulips are frost-resistant but do not tolerate waterlogging. During dry periods, they require watering. After flowering, remove the ovaries, and leave the leaves until they completely wither. In July–August, bulbs are dug up, dried, and stored until planting at gradually decreasing temperatures. For winter, plantings are mulched with peat or compost. Tulips can grow in one place for up to 5 years.
