Description

Allium "Ambassador" is an ideal plant for gardeners and novice florists. The plant is completely undemanding to care.


Appearance and fragrance
The tall allium has lanceolate leaves, often taking an arc shape, as well as luxurious spherical blooms. The diameter of the inflorescence reaches up to 25 cm. The extraordinary ball consists of tiny buds with a rich purple color. And although the variety is devoid of any floral fragrance, it attracts attention with its airiness and volume.

Planting

Growing requirements. Allium Ambassador grows well in well-drained fertile substrate in a sunny location. It tolerates frosts down to -20˚C. If drought is observed during the flowering period, it is worth watering the plants every 5-7 days. For feeding ornamental onions, multicomponent fertilizers are used, they are applied in liquid form every 2 weeks until the leaves dry out. 

Site preparation. On the chosen plot for planting allium, the soil should be thoroughly loosened and finely chopped compost should be added. Before planting the bulbs in the ground, make sure it is sufficiently moist. If the ornamental onion Ambassador is planned to be planted on a lawn, it is necessary to remove the turf from the area, slightly larger than the area the flowers will occupy. Mulching material — peat or shredded bark — is also prepared in advance.

Planting time. Allium Ambassador is transplanted into the ground in autumn, in the second half of September or early October. For planting ornamental onions, dry warm weather is chosen. Do not delay planting, as the bulbs must take root before wintering. Ideally, this should be done before the beginning of the autumn rains.
