Description

Crocus tommasinianus - This is one of the earliest and hardiest botanical crocuses, blooming even under snow, creating a delicate lilac carpet. The small, star-shaped flowers, 3–4 cm in diameter, have elongated petals with a silvery sheen on the outside, giving them a pearlescent glow. This variety is ideal for naturalizing in lawns, under trees, in rockeries, borders, or containers.

'Tomasinianus' crocuses are frost-hardy (zone 3–8, up to -40 °C). They prefer sunny or slightly shaded areas with well-drained soil (pH 6–7). Bulbs are planted in autumn (September–October) at a depth of 5–7 cm with an interval of 3–5 cm. Maintenance is minimal: they do not require watering, and the bulbs do not need to be dug up for 4–6 years. The variety is resistant to diseases and pests.
