Description
Juniperus squamata "Blue Star" is a spectacular dwarf evergreen shrub that attracts with its unusually beautiful silvery-blue needles and neat, compact crown. Thanks to its expressive color, the plant looks decorative all year round and can become a bright accent even in a small garden composition.
The crown is dense, thick, almost spherical in its youth, and over time becomes more cushion-shaped and spreading. Numerous short shoots are very densely arranged, making the bush look lush and voluminous. The needles are short, spiky, slightly prickly, of a rich glaucous-blue or silvery-blue color.
"Blue Star" belongs to slow-growing varieties. An adult plant usually reaches about 50–80 cm in height and 80–120 cm in width. Its compact size allows it to be used where large conifers would be too massive.
For the brightest blue coloration, it is recommended to plant the juniper in a sunny location. Light partial shade is acceptable, but with insufficient light, the crown may become less dense. The variety prefers light, well-drained soils and does not like prolonged waterlogging.
After rooting, the plant is quite drought-resistant and does not require frequent watering. Young seedlings should preferably be watered regularly for the first time after planting. It has high frost resistance, so the variety is well suited for cultivation in the climatic conditions of Ukraine.
Juniperus squamata "Blue Star" looks especially impressive in rock gardens and alpine slides, among decorative stones and gravel, along garden paths, and in the foreground of coniferous compositions. Its silvery-blue needles beautifully contrast with golden thujas, green junipers, ornamental grasses, and flowering perennials.

Komunikacja pozostała jasna aż do wysyłki.
