Description

Hyacinthus "White Pearl" - Prepared - is an oriental hyacinth with double flowers. Early-mid season. It was bred in the distant 1878 in Holland.

The flower stalk is about 30 cm high. The flowers are double, bell-shaped, numerous (up to 35 pieces), in a dense inflorescence. Their color is snow-white or ivory. The flower size is 3.5-4 cm in diameter and the same or slightly more in length. The flowers have a strong and persistent sweet fragrance. The inflorescence is a dense cluster, spherical-cylindrical in shape and 10-15 cm high. This variety blooms for a long time, up to three weeks. The leaves are linear, smooth, grooved, blue-green, collected in basal rosettes of 9 pieces. Their size is from 10 to 30 cm long.

This unique double variety is an excellent choice for decorating the garden or for creating a flower arrangement. Ideally suited for forcing. It will look magnificent in winter or early spring and fill your home with its delightful aroma. Prefers sunny places or partial shade, with protection from winds. Flowering period - early to mid-spring. This antique variety has stood the test of time and impresses with its beauty today, just as it did a hundred years ago!

Planting and Care

Hyacinths are planted in open ground or in containers. Fertile, well-drained, non-acidic soil is suitable; location - sunny or with light shade, protected from wind. Before planting, organic and mineral fertilizers are applied.

  • Planting times: September-December.
  • Depth: 10-15 cm, spacing: 15-20 cm.
  • Large bulbs - for forcing, medium - for open ground (they are more resistant).

In containers, drainage is mandatory (holes + drainage layer). Soil mix: turf soil, compost earth, sand or peat. The pot should be slightly larger than the bulb.

For forcing, large healthy bulbs (from 5 cm) are used. First, they are kept in a dark cool place, after the appearance of leaves - in a cool shaded place, after buds - in a bright place. After flowering, they are planted in open ground.

Care
Bulbs can be left in the ground, but it is better to dig them up after flowering. Inflorescences are cut off, leaves are left to feed the bulb. After the leaves dry (early summer), the bulbs are dug up, dried and stored in a dry place (peat, sawdust). Without digging, they grow for up to 3 years.

Watering - during the growth period, approximately twice a week without overwatering or drying out. Potted plants need regular feeding.
