Hydrangea macrophylla "Music-Collection"® — a series of compact, re-blooming shrubs 50–100 cm high, characterized by exceptionally long flowering from May to September. The main feature of the varieties in this collection is their ability to bloom on both last year's shoots and current season's shoots, thanks to which the plants retain their ornamental value and continue to bloom even after harsh winters.
For successful cultivation of hydrangeas, it is recommended to choose fertile, acidic or slightly acidic soils with a pH level of about 5.5. The shrub develops best in partial shade, where the leaves are protected from burns and the inflorescences retain their rich color. The plant is very moisture-loving and needs regular, abundant watering, especially in hot weather, but it is important to prevent water stagnation at the roots.
The frost resistance of hydrangeas is up to –18…–20 °C. Despite re-blooming, to preserve flower buds and obtain early flowering in early summer, it is highly recommended to cover the bushes for winter. Pruning is minimal: only faded inflorescences, old, weak, and frost-damaged shoots are removed, preserving healthy branches on which abundant flowering forms.
