Description
Hydrangea macrophylla "Nikko Blue" is a classic variety with blue inflorescences, especially valued for its bright and pure color. In acidic soil, the color becomes intensely blue, making the plant a striking accent in the garden.
The shrub reaches a height of about 1-1.5 meters, has a dense, rounded shape. The foliage is large, green, creating a beautiful contrast with the flowers.
Flowering occurs in mid-summer and lasts for several weeks. The inflorescences are large, spherical, and retain their decorative appeal well. The color may vary with changes in soil pH.
This variety prefers partial shade, wind-protected locations, and regular watering. It is less frost-resistant than panicled varieties, so it requires covering in cold regions. An excellent choice for ornamental gardens.
