Picea glauca "Conica" - is a popular dwarf coniferous variety with a very dense, regular conical crown. The plant is valued for its slow growth, neat natural shape, and soft, dense needles. It is decorative all year round and is excellent for small gardens, rockeries, coniferous compositions, and decorating entrance areas.

The crown of "Conica" is very dense, symmetrical, and narrowly conical. Numerous short shoots are so densely packed that the plant maintains its correct geometric silhouette almost without formative pruning.

The needles are short, soft, dense, and rich green in color. In spring, the new growth is a fresh light green shade, making the crown look especially bright and expressive.

This variety is characterized by slow growth. Annual growth is usually about 5–10 cm. An adult plant usually reaches 2–3 m in height and 1–1.5 m in width. Very old specimens, under favorable conditions, can grow up to 3–4 m.

For planting, it is best to choose a sunny location or light partial shade. In overly shaded areas, the crown may become less dense. However, young plants should be protected from intense early spring sun, which can cause burns and browning of the needles.

The spruce prefers fertile, loose, moderately moist, and well-drained soil. After planting, regular watering is necessary, especially in hot and dry weather. Mulching the tree circle is beneficial, as it reduces soil drying and protects the superficial root system.

Picea glauca "Conica" has high frost resistance but is sensitive to drying out and waterlogging. The crown usually does not require pruning, as the plant naturally maintains its characteristic regular shape.

The variety looks great in single plantings, alpine gardens and rockeries, near paths and terraces, as well as in compositions with junipers, thujas, dwarf pines, barberries, and decorative perennials.
