Description
Rhododendron catawbiense "Cunningham's White" - is a beautifully flowering evergreen highly decorative shrub.
Variety description / advantages: Rhododendron Cunningham`s White is an evergreen abundantly flowering shrub, unique in summer with its dark green foliage, providing a background for other plants, and during flowering it is a charming snow-white dominant. Another advantage of the Cunningham White rhododendron variety is its unpretentiousness to soil acidity, resistance to frost, droughts, and urban air pollution.
Form: Dense, dome-shaped, highly branched shrub (see photo). Size: The height of an adult plant reaches 150-200cm, width about 200cm.
Growth rate / growth vigor: Fast-growing plant, reaches this height in 10 years.
Shoots: Young shoots are green and flexible, lignifying with age.
Bark: Gray, covered with black scales.
Root: Flat, superficial root system.
Leaves: Large (10-12cm), elliptical, leathery, dark green on top and gray underneath.
Flowers: Light pink buds become snow-white large flowers with yellow specks in the middle when open.
Flowering: Blooms in April–May, sometimes repeatedly in autumn, which clearly weakens the abundance of spring flowering.
Light requirements / insolation: Prefers shade, partial shade, also feels great in wooded areas, especially under pines and not very dense spruces.
Moisture requirements: Cunningham White Rhododendron prefers regular watering, does not tolerate drought or excessive waterlogging of the soil.
Soil type: Fresh, moist, fertile, loose and sandy loamy soils with an acidic reaction.

In queste condizioni ordinerei volentieri un'altra varietà.
