Rhododendron catawbiense "Grandiflorum" is an evergreen, vigorous, profusely flowering shrub with semi-double, large purple-lilac inflorescences that almost completely cover the dark green leaves when in bloom. The advantage of this variety is its very large bush size and good frost resistance. Rhododendron catawbiense Grandiflorum will be a wonderful addition to your collection of ornamental plants!
Form: tall shrub with a spreading form.
Height/diameter: at 10 years old, the plant reaches up to 2-2.5 m in height and approximately the same diameter.
Flowering: with a slightly wavy edge, bell-shaped, light purple flowers have an expressive red-yellow pattern on the upper petal and are quite large (5 to 7.5 cm in diameter) and are collected in wide, conical inflorescences. Stamen filaments match the color of the petals, but the pistil neck is darker. Rhododendron Grandiflorum has relatively late flowering, in early June, but it blooms long and profusely.
Leaves: dark green, slightly glossy, oblong-elliptical, 10-13 cm long and 3.5-4.5 cm wide, leathery leaves.
Root system: the seedling has a flat, superficial root system, sensitive to soil compaction, loosening, and waterlogging.
Light requirements: can grow in sunny places, although it will feel better in partial shade, protected from winds.
Soil type: requires acidic and moderately moist soil.
Application: Perfectly fits into compositions with low-growing conifers, as well as in Japanese-style gardens. Suitable for growing in home gardens, heath gardens, as well as for group planting in parks and gardens and as a hedge.

Osłonę można było łatwo zdjąć podczas rozpakowywania. Opakowanie chroniło delikatne części przed ściankami pudełka. Dało mi to pewność, że zamówienie zostało sprawdzone.

Materiał roślinny wyglądał świeżo po otwarciu kartonu. Obecne liście nie były mocno otarte w transporcie. Strefa korzeniowa była wilgotna, ale nie przemoczona.
