Rhododendron hybrid "Blue Peter" - is a spectacular evergreen shrub with a wide, compact crown, reaching a height of 120–150 cm and a width of up to 180 cm. The leaves are large, dark green, leathery, with a glossy surface, giving the plant a decorative appearance even outside the flowering period. The greatest adornment of this variety are large lavender-blue flowers with wavy edges and a striking dark purple spot in the center. The flowers are gathered in lush inflorescences of 10–15 pieces, which bloom in May – June and last for about three weeks, creating a delicate, airy effect in the garden. How to plant and care for Rhododendron 'Blue Peter': this rhododendron needs loose, acidic, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. It grows best in partial shade or under diffused light, as direct sunlight can cause color fading. The variety has good frost resistance (up to -24°C), but in regions with cold winters, mulching the root zone with peat, bark, or conifer needles is recommended. Watering should be regular, especially during hot periods, but it is important to avoid waterlogging. To maintain healthy growth and abundant flowering, the plant should be fertilized in spring with special fertilizers for rhododendrons. After flowering is complete, it is advisable to remove withered inflorescences to stimulate new growth.
