Description
Thuja occidentalis "Brabant" - is one of the most popular fast-growing Thuja varieties for creating dense evergreen hedges and effective landscaping. The plant is valued for its intensive growth, dense beautiful crown, rich green foliage, and good frost resistance. Thanks to its classic conical shape, 'Brabant' looks harmonious in both formal and modern landscape compositions.
The crown is dense, columnar-conical, formed by numerous well-branched shoots. The foliage is soft, scaly, rich green. One of the advantages of the variety is its ability to maintain an attractive green color almost all year round. It tolerates formative pruning well, after which it quickly recovers and becomes even denser.
'Brabant' is characterized by a fast growth rate. The annual growth under favorable conditions can be about 30–40 cm. An adult plant usually reaches 3–5 m in height, and without regular shaping, it can grow even taller over time. Thanks to this, the variety is especially convenient for creating tall green walls that help zone the area and provide additional privacy.
For planting, sunny locations and light partial shade are suitable. In a well-lit area, the crown forms especially dense and uniform. Thuja prefers fertile, moderately moist, and well-drained soil. Young plants after planting require regular watering, and during hot dry periods, crown sprinkling is beneficial.
The variety has high frost resistance, adapts well to various growing conditions, and is suitable for landscaping homestead areas, parks, avenues, and urban areas. Thanks to its good tolerance to pruning, the plant can easily be given the desired height and shape.
Thuja occidentalis 'Brabant' is an excellent choice if you need to create a dense and beautiful evergreen hedge relatively quickly. The plant also looks impressive in single plantings, groups with other coniferous cultures, and as a vertical accent in a landscape composition.
