Description

Tulip "Marilyn" - is a late-flowering tulip belonging to the Lily-flowered tulips class. It was first introduced in 1976. This beautiful large flower is creamy white with a wide flame of straw red that tapers at the tips of the petals. The base has a feathered pattern and the same delightful color. The flowers rise on strong flower stalks and create a contrast with the broad glaucous-green foliage. They are solitary, with long pointed, recurved petals. They emit a wonderful fragrance. Exceptionally long-lasting in water and retain their shape. Flowering is late, occurring from late April to early May. The flower stem reaches up to 50 cm in height.

This variety prefers light sandy loamy soils, rich in humus, with a neutral or slightly alkaline reaction. Avoid planting tulips in heavy, clayey, and marshy soils. Full sun is recommended (at least 6 hours or more). In the first year, it can grow in poorer soil (because the tulip has a reserve of nutrients in its bulbs). But in subsequent years, to maintain spectacular flowering tulips, the soil must be thoroughly prepared. It should be fertilized, composted, and loosened.
