Description
«Dragon Fruit» is a fruitful pitahaya: a spectacular garden plant capable of adding depth, character, and a sense of completeness to a composition. The foliage or needles have a characteristic "Green" color for the plant. Flowering continues from June to September; the main shade of the flowers is "White, large, night-blooming". The plant forms edible fruits; the fruit color is "Pink-red with green scales"; ripening usually occurs in warm conditions, possibly summer–autumn.
The beauty of the variety is especially well-expressed where lighting, soil, and humidity are selected considering its characteristics. Optimal lighting — sun; warm and as protected a place as possible. Soil — fertile, well-drained; slightly acidic–neutral. Watering — regular during rooting, flowering, and fruit setting; without water stagnation. Frost resistance — very low; does not tolerate frost, indoor wintering.
In a composition, the plant helps create an expressive structure and maintain interest in the planting throughout the season. Best use scenarios — fruit garden; compact/heat-loving cultures — large container. The main advantages of «Dragon Fruit» — prolonged flowering, edible harvest, suitability for container cultivation, an expressive vertical silhouette and a combination of decorative and practical value. To maintain its form, it is sufficient to adhere to the following pruning scheme: formative and sanitary; timing and intensity depend on the culture and type of fruiting. Pollination feature — depends on the clone; some require a second variety/manual pollination.
