Description
"Rouge de Bordeaux" is a fig with an expressive appearance, beautiful texture, and harmonious silhouette. Deciduous green foliage emphasizes the natural seasonal rhythm and creates a calm background for flowering or fruiting. The plant forms edible fruits; ripening usually lasts from August to October. As an adult, the plant typically reaches 2–4 m in height and about 2–4 m in width, so its future scale is easy to consider when planning planting.
For the plant to maintain a neat shape and expressiveness, it is enough to provide it with a suitable place and consistent care. Optimal lighting – sun; warm and, if possible, protected place. Soil – fertile, well-drained; slightly acidic-neutral. Watering – regular during the rooting period, flowering, and fruit setting; without waterlogging. Frost resistance – medium, approximately -10…-15 °C; protection is needed in cold areas.
The variety is equally appropriate in decorative and practical plantings if its scale and growth habit are taken into account in advance. Best use scenarios – fruit garden; compact/heat-loving crops – large container. The main advantages of "Rouge de Bordeaux" are an edible harvest, an extended fruiting period, suitability for container cultivation, the architectural silhouette of an adult plant, and a combination of decorative and practical value. To maintain the shape, it is enough to adhere to the following pruning scheme: formative and sanitary; timing and intensity depend on the crop and type of fruiting. Pollination feature – cultivated parthenocarpic varieties usually bear fruit without a pollinator.
