Description
«Rode Zellernoot» is a hazelnut with an expressive appearance, beautiful texture, and harmonious silhouette. Its deciduous green foliage emphasizes the natural seasonal rhythm and creates a calm background for flowering or fruiting. Flowering occurs in spring and early summer; the main shade of the flowers is "Yellow-brown catkins; female flowers reddish". The plant produces edible fruits; the color of the fruits is "Green husk; mature nut brown"; ripening usually lasts from September to October.
For the plant to maintain a neat shape and expressiveness, it is enough to provide it with a suitable place and consistent care. Optimal lighting – sun; a warm and, if possible, sheltered place. Soil – fertile, well-drained; slightly acidic-neutral. Watering – regular during rooting, flowering, and fruit development; without waterlogging. Frost resistance – very high, approximately up to −30 °C.
The variety is equally appropriate for decorative and practical plantings if its scale and growth habit are taken into account in advance. Best use scenarios – fruit garden; compact/heat-loving crops – large container. The main advantages of «Rode Zellernoot» are edible harvest, very high winter hardiness, suitability for container cultivation, architectural silhouette of the adult plant, and a combination of decorativeness and practical value. To maintain its shape, it is sufficient to adhere to the following pruning scheme: formative and sanitary; timing and intensity depend on the crop and type of fruiting. Pollination feature – preferably 2 compatible varieties for cross-pollination.
