Hydrangea quercifolia "Snow Queen" - This is an abundantly flowering shrub with large (up to 25 cm long) paniculate inflorescences of sterile and fertile flowers. It grows up to 1.5 m in height. The leaves are large, leathery, with five irregular lobes, resembling the leaves of a red oak. They are light green on top (darkening later) and silvery, pubescent underneath, turning a fantastic crimson in autumn. The sterile flowers are single, creamy, quite large; the fertile flowers are small and yellow-green. The shrub blooms in July-August, and as the flowers fade, they turn pink.
