Description
Malus "John Downie" - is an ornamental apple tree, known for its spectacular flowering and unusual elongated fruits. In spring, the tree is covered with numerous large white fragrant flowers with a delicate pink tint in the buds, and by autumn, bright orange-red pear-shaped apples ripen on the branches, which remain on the tree for a long time and decorate the garden until late autumn.
The tree forms a beautiful wide oval crown and reaches 5–7 m in height. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, disease resistance, and abundant annual fruiting. The decorative fruits not only adorn the plant but are also suitable for making jelly, jams, and compotes.
The apple tree prefers sunny areas with fertile, well-drained soil. It is ideal for single plantings, avenues, parks, and landscape compositions, retaining its decorative appeal from spring to winter.
